Welcome to Day 2 of our autoimmune masterclass series. Today we are focusing on food and how that impacts inflammation. We revisit the Leaky Gut framework and how inflammatory foods and toxins can disrupt our immune system. We discuss ingredients in American versus the UK and how standards and regulations can impact our health in a major way.
If you’re tired of taking medication after medication but never truly getting to the root cause of your illness, then you’ve come to the right place. Often with autoimmune disease, as a patient it feels like they’re either throwing antibiotics or steroids at inflammation. In the end, we must understand how the body works, what causes inflammation (many environmental issues such as plastics, pesticides, forever chemicals and hormone disrupting agents) that lead to many autoimmune conditions such as those listed below.
- Hashimoto’s
- Sjögren's syndrome (impacts glands, causes dry eye, dry mouth, etc)
- Autoimmune Thyroid,
- Type I Diabetes,
- Lupus,
- Rheumatoid Arthritis,
- Scleroderma,
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Celiac Disease
- Psoriasis,
- And more…
How much does it cost?
We try to keep pricing simple. We don’t take insurance, but we are transparent with pricing. We charge $99 for 30 minutes of our time. Any testing we do, you pay as you go. Often you can test for vitamin deficiencies, mineral toxicities and food and non-food sensitivities for around $300 total.
Is autoimmune disease genetic, or environmental?
With any disease, the interaction between genetic predisposition and environment (known as epigenetics) is complex. The typical saying is that “genes load the gun but the environment pulls the trigger”. We can’t change your genes, but we can help you interact with your environment in a healthier way with evidence-based interactions.
Who is your ideal patient?
If you’ve been to all the specialists and feel frustrated because you never get any answers, we are here to do a deep dive in the literature to help you understand what treatment approach is right for you.. While there may be common causes and protocols, we tailor your care to your symptoms.
How do you feel about traditional treatments, medications (antibiotics, vaccines, statins)?
We are very open-minded. We believe that traditional medicine is very good at treating acute illness but does a very poor job managing chronic illness and providing preventive care. We absolutely believe in modern medication but don’t believe medication ought to be the first line of treatment in many cases. Our bodies were designed to heal themselves and ought to be the first line of defense for disease. By optimizing your wellness state, we expect that you will require less traditional pharmaceutical medications. We work with your existing medical team and try to give individualized care to help you reach your goals, whatever they may be.
